Fine Arts graduate of the University of Barcelona, Mariano Soto continued his education at the Fine Arts University of Ravena and the Palazzo Spinelli Institute of Art and Restoration in Florence.

Specializing in oriental painting, he trained with the master of Chinese painting Li Chi Pang, while also studying psychoanalysis.

His professional activities as painter, teacher, communicator, and cultural administrator, have led him to conceive and organize numerous events including exhibitions, art workshops, poetry recitals and lectures.

After experimenting with different styles and techniques in the course of his career, he has found in Chinese painting and Sumi-e an approach to research and growth that has allowed him to develop his creativity and explore the expressive and therapeutic possibilities that run through these age-old painting techniques. In this way, the artist’s diverse interests have merged into a single thread.

He has interiorized the spirit of Chinese painting and its quest to capture the essence of things. His aim is to express directly and spontaneously, using simple but highly refined means and materials, laying down on rice paper the essence of nature and places as they are lived, bringing together the spirit of oriental painting with the colours and feelings of the Mediterranean.

His artistic career has been configured by diverse exhibitions with shows in numerous galleries and art fairs. Mariano Soto’s work is in private collections all over the world.
